Wete Hospital is the public referral hospital for Pemba North Region, based in Wete town. Its treatment capacity was expanded with a AED 37 million (about US$10 million) grant from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, signed with the Zanzibar government to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, boost service efficiency and build local medical staff capabilities for Pemba's northern districts and surrounding islands.
