Staying safe
Practical advice for buying, selling, hiring and travelling.
Meet in a public place in daylight. Take somebody with you if you can, and tell a third person where you are going.
Do not pay in advance for something you have not seen, and be suspicious of any seller who will only accept a payment method that cannot be traced or reversed. A deposit for a room or a tour is normal; a deposit "to hold the item" for a stranger is one of the oldest frauds there is.
No member of Zanzibar.today staff will ever ask you for your password, for a verification code sent to your telephone, or for payment to release a listing, a job or a booking. If somebody asks, they are not us. Report them.
For jobs: an employer who asks you to pay for training, a uniform, a medical or a placement before you start is not offering you a job. Legitimate employers do not charge candidates.
