The Zanzibar branch office of Tanzania's state-owned telecommunications company, providing fixed-line and internet connectivity for the islands from a Kijangwani Street office in Zanzibar Town.
TTCL traces its roots to the East African Post and Telegraph Company of 1933 and was reconstituted as Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited in 1993, beginning operations on 1 January 1994. The Tanzanian government bought back full ownership in June 2016, repurchasing Bharti Airtel's 35% stake, and TTCL remains the country's dominant fixed-line operator, holding the license for fixed basic telephone service in both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. This Kijangwani Street office is TTCL's Zanzibar base, from which it has historically competed with Zantel as one of the islands' two fixed and broadband providers.
