About 8km west of Zanzibar Town, Masingini Forest Reserve is a different forest from Jozani — a roughly 6km loop trail through overarching palms and tamarind trees. Established in the 1950s to protect the town's water catchment, it's home to red colobus and other monkeys.

The trail finishes at a bluff with Indian Ocean views. Several operators run guided hikes (including a zip-line add-on offered separately).
