The Shangani post office on Kenyatta Road is Stone Town's main postal counter, run by Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC, trading as Posta) since Zanzibar has no separate postal operator of its own. TPC, a state-owned corporation established in 1994 with roots in colonial-era postal administration, maintains eleven post offices across the Zanzibar isles; the Shangani branch also houses one of TPC's bureau de change outlets alongside standard letter, parcel and bill-payment counter services.
