Kizimkazi Dimbani is a village on Unguja's southern tip, part of the greater Kizimkazi area, and home to the Kizimkazi Mosque - believed to be the oldest Islamic building on the East African coast. A kufic inscription dates its founding to 1107 under Shirazi settlers, though most of today's structure was rebuilt in the 18th century, and several carved 17th-century tombs stand nearby. The village sits close to the jetties used for Kizimkazi's dolphin-watching boat trips.
