About
A white-sand beach on Zanzibar's northwest coast, sheltered from the tides that affect much of the island's coastline, known for its sunsets and calm swimming water year-round.
Kendwa is a village in Unguja's far north on the island's western coast, roughly 3km south of Nungwi, with views out to the small island of Daloni and, further off, Tumbatu Island. Unlike most of Zanzibar's coastline, Kendwa's beach is largely sheltered from the extreme tidal swings that expose wide sandbanks elsewhere, which keeps it swimmable at most tide levels and has made it popular for sunset-watching and beach gatherings.
