Bwejuu is a village on Unguja's east coast immediately south of the Michamvi Peninsula, in a beach-rich stretch of shoreline known locally as Dongwe; the larger town of Jambiani lies about seven kilometres further south. The coastline is known for pronounced tides, with long sandbanks exposed at low water, and the village remains relatively undeveloped compared with the northern resort beaches.
