Old Fort Cultural Performances is a Zanzibar entertainment associated with cultural performance, live venue.
The Old Fort (Ngome Kongwe) is a 17th-century stone fortress on the Stone Town seafront, adjacent to the House of Wonders. Built by the Omanis on the site of an earlier Portuguese chapel, it later served as a prison and, in the 1920s, a railway workshop. Today its internal courtyard has been converted into a cultural centre, with curio shops selling tourist-oriented crafts such as Tingatinga paintings, and a small open-air arena where live traditional dance and music shows are staged.
