Uvinje Island is a small islet roughly 5km off the west coast of Pemba, separated from the main island by a shallow lagoon. It has more than 300 metres of private white-sand beach along its shoreline, and the surrounding waters include Uvinje Gap, a noted scuba diving site for visitors to the Pemba region. The island is home to a small exclusive lodge, making it accessible mainly to overnight guests rather than day visitors.
