The Rock Restaurant occupies a small outcrop of coral rock rising from the Indian Ocean off Michamvi Pingwe on Zanzibar's south-east coast, one of the island's most photographed dining settings. Guests reach the dozen-table restaurant by wading or by boat depending on the tide, and the kitchen focuses on freshly caught seafood prepared with local spices for a fishing community that supplies much of the catch.
