Chwaka Bay Mangroves is a Zanzibar natural site associated with mangrove, bay.
Chwaka Bay is a large, shallow bay on Unguja's east coast whose seagrass beds and fringing mangrove forests form an important breeding ground for reef fish and other marine life. The bay is part of the Jozani-Chwaka Bay UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and has been recognised as a Ramsar wetland of international importance, with the wider area also on the tentative list for UNESCO World Heritage status. It supports a mosaic of mangroves, coral rag forest and salt marsh, and is home to around 168 recorded bird species, including some three dozen of regional or global conservation importance, alongside dolphins and reef fish.
