Hurumzi Henna Art Gallery is a Zanzibar gallery associated with art gallery, henna.
Housed in a three-storey former merchant house on Hurumzi Street with original arched niches, stained glass and beamed ceilings, this gallery grew out of a 2007 workshop for ten local women henna artists into a full women's cooperative. The artists translate traditional henna body-art patterns — normally applied to hands and feet for weddings and festivals — into acrylic paintings and prints, with visitors often able to watch them at work in the studio above the shop.
