About
A Halotel retail shop inside Michenzani Mall in Zanzibar Town selling SIM cards, mobile data bundles and phone accessories for the Halotel (Viettel Tanzania) mobile network.
This shop sells for Halotel, the trading name of Viettel Tanzania, which launched service in October 2015 backed by roughly $1 billion of investment from Vietnam's state-owned Viettel Group. Halotel was the first company allowed to lay its own fibre-optic cable in Tanzania, has since deployed over 18,000km of fibre, and reports coverage across more than 81% of the country's area; it also runs the HaloPesa mobile money service. As of March 2023 it held about 8.1 million mobile subscribers nationally, roughly 13% of the market.
