Mkoani Old Port is a Zanzibar historic site associated with historic port, waterfront.
Mkoani is a port town on the southern tip of Pemba island and capital of both Mkoani District and Pemba South Region. Its harbour is the busiest on the island, handling passenger and cargo ferries connecting Pemba to Unguja (Zanzibar's main island) and to mainland Tanzania, alongside a working wharf and fish market. According to the 2022 census the town has a population of about 23,719. Mkoani's role as Pemba's principal port of entry has grown over the 20th and 21st centuries even as Wete, further north, historically served as an earlier major landing point for the island.
