Ijumaa Mosque is a Zanzibar historic site associated with historic mosque, architecture.
Ijumaa Mosque sits at the heart of the Muslim quarter of Stone Town. Sources differ on its original age, with some dating its founding to the 15th century and others to the 19th, but it is agreed that the mosque underwent a complete reconstruction in 1994, which gave it its present Arab-influenced architectural style and a mihrab of the kind found elsewhere in Tanzania. Unusually, the mosque's doorway is a repurposed old mausoleum entrance, one of the few such relics remaining in Stone Town.
