Michamvi Pingwe Beach sits on Zanzibar's southeast coast at the tip of the Michamvi peninsula. It is best known as the site of The Rock, a small seafood restaurant built on a natural coral outcrop in the shallows, accessible on foot across the sand at low tide or by a short boat shuttle at high tide, which appears to 'float' on the water when the tide is in. Opened in 2011, the restaurant sources much of its seafood and produce from local fishermen and farmers in the nearby village of Michamvi.
