Zanzibar Coffee House occupies a historic building on Tharia Street in Mkunazini, built in 1885 for Sir Tharia Topan, Wazir to Sultan Said Bargash. Its ground-floor café roasts Arabica coffee from the sister Utengule Estate in Tanzania's Southern Highlands, serving cappuccinos, espresso, cakes, muffins and mini-pizzas, while the antique rooftop — largely unchanged in over 120 years, with original teak doors and coloured window panes — offers a 360-degree view over Stone Town and a well-regarded breakfast.
